There is one thing about Mussoorie that catches most visitors out: during peak periods every tourist vehicle must be registered in advance with the state, and the number plate is checked by camera at the gates. We do that for you at booking.

Charging on the Delhi to Mussoorie route

Mussoorie is also, unexpectedly, one of the best-served hill stations in the country for charging: there is a 120 kW round-the-clock fast charger in town, which is better than most places at sea level. What to know about this drive
- Tourist vehicle registration is mandatory during peak periods — summer and winter holidays and long weekends. It is an online registration carrying the vehicle number, checked by camera at the Kimadi, Kempty Fall and Kuthal gates, and entry is refused without it. Because the registration is tied to the car, this is our job at booking, not something you should be doing at a barrier.
- Landour Cantonment caps tourist vehicles at 500 a day with its own separate registration. If your stay is in Landour, tell us when you book.
- Mall Road has restricted vehicle access and parking, with shuttles running from the Kincraig parking area. Expect the car to end its day at the parking rather than the hotel door for some properties.

How long does Delhi to Mussoorie take now?
Four to four and a half hours. The new Delhi–Dehradun Expressway covers the first 210 km in about two and a half hours, then it is roughly 35 km of ghat road up to Mussoorie.
Can the car drop us at the hotel on Mall Road?
It depends on the property. Mall Road has restricted vehicle access and parking, with shuttles from the Kincraig parking area. Send us your hotel and we will confirm the drop point before you travel.
Can we combine Mussoorie with Dehradun or Rishikesh?
Yes, easily. Dehradun is at the foot of the hill and Rishikesh about 75 km on. A round trip lets the chauffeur cover all three without you arranging anything locally.
Will an electric car make it to Mussoorie without running out of charge?

Every planned stop has at least one named alternative within reach, and our operations team checks charger status on the morning of departure. Charger downtime is a real problem on Indian highways, which is why we plan for it rather than hope.
Does the charging stop make the trip longer?
We budget a full hour for a charging stop, and we schedule it where you would want a break anyway - somewhere with a clean restroom and food. Often it takes less, but we plan the day on an hour so a busy charger does not put you behind schedule.
